This is another expression that could easily be misinterpreted. Is it stressing the previous or next day, week, month, etc.? Survey says: no. Instead, it’s referring to two days, weeks, months, etc. preceding or proceeding the current one. It could be translated to American English as “the X before last X” or “the X after next X.”
